Monday 22nd June – Windsurf **** The Dip at Felixstowe – sunny and hot.

Foil – 17.71 knot max, 16.08 knot ave., 9.49 knot hour, 16.04 knot mile, 48.18 km., 12.11 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Tushingham Bolt 5.75.

Cracking forecast today with sunshine, hot and a 20 knot breeze from the NE and with low water at 11.36 I headed down to The Dip around 9.30, winger Michael G was already there setting up his 5m wing, there was a good turnout in the end for a Monday with several wingers and kitesurfers, one fin sailor, one windsurf foiler, me and David on his longboard doing some coast cruising! My board was quickly set-up on the beach, now what sail? I took the wind gauge down and with it gusting to 18 mph I rigged my 5.75 and to be honest that was a mistake as the 6.50 would have been much better but I could pump up onto the foil and once going had loads of cracking long runs out to sea where it was much rougher, my longest run was over 3.50 miles out. It was harder when the tide turned being a little under powered but I stuck with it and in the end did 30 top miles in warm sunshine in my shortie. With the tide coming in and it getting a little bumpy I decided to call it a day. A good day was had by most, sadly one sail was badly damaged in the shore break:( I then took our van in to have a flat tire checked and had to walk home, luckily it was only a puncture which could be repaired, result but we did have to walk to pick the van up! It would have been 5 stars if I had rigged the right sail!
